This top piece is a collaborative piece with Ammon. All of the rest are my own. This book should now be with Ellen.

Almost finished with Gretchen's book.

I really didn't like this piece so I worked over it. Same concept but with a different delivery. Acrylic paint with gel pen & marker.


I never really know how to work with what Ammon leaves me for our collaborative pieces. I worry that what I do may seem like I'm bastardizing it, but I'm really trying to do the best I can. I totally messed up the upper image in this piece and the only way I could figure out how to save it was to somehow turn it silly. There is an actual website called awakwardfamilyphotos.com.

My last piece in Gretchen's book. I wasn't originally going to color it in but something told me to wait mailing it and I'm glad I did. The right hand page I left for Ellen as a collab piece.

Finished with Ammon's book and wish I had more to work on. The piece above was black gesso, acrylic paint, white gel pen and Sharpie paint pen.



A collaboration piece with Ammon. "Authenticity means taking risks to remain true to who you really are." (I made that up as it seemed relevant to me at the time. Colored pencil, gesso & gel pen.

Biffybeans: 1st and 2nd pieces in her own book

My 1st entry in my own book. Black Bob Ross Acrylic Gesso (which isn't very black) and Colleen colored pencils. Big mandala.



2nd entry in my own book. Artist grade watercolors, Liquitex Black Gesso & white Uniball gel pen. The woman on the left seems to be pointing to the left coast.....  another hint to go and visit Portland OR?

When I was making these pieces, it suddenly dawned on my that when I send this book off, I won't see it again for a whole year. Sure, I'll see some of the art online, but to think that it is going to travel the states through the hands of 12 different people... that is just too cool for school. Oh, and not to mention that I get to leave my mark in 11 other books! What fun!

Round 2 - page 1 Aya rosen

Or rather, page half... I still have one project (at least) I was supposed to finish before this, but I couldn't help myself anymore, and so today, when Ned, my husband were making work phone calls at home, I went to my favorite coffee shop and worked on this.

It feels very strange to draw or paint in someone else's book. I felt like i broke into a stranger's house and eat their food from their fridge or slept on their bed.

After giving a shot to the moleskin sketchbook in this, rather then the watercolor version which I usually get, I have to say, for me, watercolor is definitely the way to go for me. This paper is coated and it doesn't take watercolor very well, I manage ot make it work, but had to use a lot more paint and less water, and some of the subtelties are lost.

I might have to use markers for the next pages.
