Biffybeans: Last page in my book, collaboration for Ellen

Well... here goes nothing. Finished my last page in my own book. A collaboration piece left for Ellen. I am trying to decide whether or not to add any decoration to the cover but I will be shipping to Ellen soon. I am still a bit blown away at the prospect of letting this book go and the way in which it will be returned to me in a year's time. With all of the work I've been doing pertaining to personal growth, it just seems like the most perfect exercise at the most perfect time. It also falls into the category of, "If you love something, set it free..."

Waiting for my Folio

Until my new A4 folio arrives...

I completed a painting this past Saturday for an upcoming group show at a local community theater. The show is entitled "In Unison" and once I was accepted to be a part of the exhibit, I immediately knew that I wanted to create something with the show's theme in mind. From concept to finished painting. (Painting yet untitled.)

Creatures Real & Imagined

Here's a sketchbook painting I did this weekend, but it's in Mary's Mole from Round 1! I am still waiting for some Round 2 books from Canada, which I expect to arrive any day now. I will happily post the day they hit my mailbox. Meanwhile, Mary had sent me her Round 1 Mole, which still had a few blank pages in the rear :-)

This rooster kept me occupied over the weekend. I was inspired by an art show I saw, blogged here. Steve, I hope it is alright that I mentioned & linked you in my blog post. The theme of the show was especially right down your alley, though I think many of us may have enjoyed it.

Whistling While I Wait...

Toodle-loo, too, toot-de-dooo! Speaking as a fellow restless native, I've been turning my frequent state of booklessness into other forms of art... while I wait for my share of Moleskines to arrive. I recently joined another art group called Creative Every Day, just for the active experience. And no, we don't have to post every day, have mercy. That would be too much pressure even for me, HA!

To those who are bookless, I feel your pain. To those who have books piling up, I feel your pain. I'm sure this isn't the way any of us had planned it, empty-handers & bottleneckers alike. Songbird Cutouts for Ruth

I'm killing time between books with other creative projects, so to prove I'm not idle (HA!), here's a tease. Recent bird drawings from other artists in this group, plus an influx of real nests around my home lately, have me obsessing about my feathered friends.

I have a friend in the hospital indefinitely, so I am sending her these birds to decorate her room. Here's a link showing all 6 birds, some real nests & the story on this project. Whew, snapping & uploading pics & writing posts takes longer than doing the art! Weary sigh :-)

Art Delay Ends After Vacation Jetlag

Being self-employed, my vacations go like this: ugly, weeklong work crunch before I depart... week of vacay, NO work! ...ugly, weeklong work crunch when I return. Sigh. Anyhoo, I did have a grand time in Oregon. I thought of Aya, as I painted on the plane. And I thought of Willie, because I bought sign-art from a homeless man. And my turquoise gemstones (above) accidentally came out like Anders drew them, HA! So you see, even when I'm artistically backed up, you guys are always on my mind :-)

First page - Round 2 - Aya Rosen

One of my major dilemmas in drawing in Heidi's book (I know I'm going to experience it with each book I get) is how to both do what I want, but also correspond with the other art in the book.
When I start a new sketchbook I usually give it a general name, and mosto f the pieces in the book follow a certain theme, or color pallet or just a change in me, once I start a new one, I'm often drawn to trying something new that I wouldn't dare put in the old one.

So, in Heidi's case this was pretty easy, she had a drawing of a tuffed ears owl in her book AND I notice a comment on one of my owl prints. So I assumed she's a person who likes owls. I decided to add my own version of a tuffed ears owl to her book

Round 2: Mole 5-6: The Overlook Tree

The Overlook Tree, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Scanned and photographed versions of my next one/two mole(s)(5,6) with Biker Buddy acting as photographer's assistant. Done in Michelle's Mole with pencil, ink, gouache, and crayola crayons, lol! I really had fun with this. :-D
