And so it begins...

I am still fascinated by the mosiac sculpture of Niki de Saint Phalle's Tarot Garden. The skulls amid mirrors (tinfoil, here) is her influence. To see Niki's pillar of skulls, follow the link, click Videos, view the 3rd video listed. The fish crow is all me.

I love that you used nail polish! Those skulls are fantastic as well.

Too cool. I LOVE that crow! It looks so real and an interesting contrast to the stylized skulls! It reminds me of Nikki but also of Jim Doran!! Maybe I have Jim Doran on the brain becasue I just sent him a little thank you package, much delayed.

I love the nail polish, what I cool thing to use! Is the craw drawing or pasted up?!

Everything (crow included) is drawn directly on the page, except the tinfoil mosiac pieces (glued in).

I like nail polish as paint because it's super shiny. Adds textural diversity, like spot varnish in a bottle! Note: use caution when applying clear polish over solvent-based mediums, as it will sometimes reconstitute & smear the color underneath.
