stylized... ink... things... in Mike Kline's book

Today I sent Mike's book to Andrea...

3rd page, Mike Kline's book 4th page, Mike Kline's book

5th page, Mike Kline's book
(It's really too bad, but somehow Math Dragon's head was blown off before it had a chance to be drawn... blame artist angst)

6th page, Mike Kline's book 7th page, Mike Kline's book

(wtf?!)

(I'm just glad the holidays are over)

These are beautiful! They ARE very stylized. I wouldn't know how to go about that, but I love them.

Haha, poor dragon. Jess, these are marvelous, really. I love the style going on here - it's a change from what I've seen from you before. Really fantastic stuff!

Were the holidays that bad? I know they can be a real pain - overkill sometimes, huh? But hey, you survived!

Love these. remind me of shadow puppet theatre in a way.

while the holidays were good for me, I enjoyed getting back to the routine yesterday. though I'll probably be yearning for more time out in a month...

Mike, yay, I'm glad you like the dragons! :)

Steve-- it's definitely a change. I took inspiration from a Dover book on Chinese folk designs. It was cool to kind of... drill the style into my fingers.

And yeah, the holidays were that bad... I have a terribly messed up family so the holidays always remind me of them (we are estranged, yay!) and it's just not much fun. Fortunately I married into a really cool family, and even though they live on the opposite cost, I take a lot of comfort from them. :)

I love these designs.

Those Dover books can be good for inspiration! I think i will order a couple.

(There are so MANY!)

I'm glad you have someone/something to take comfort in!)

Our holidays are stressful too, probably not as bad, but multiple celebrations and much travel etc.

My husband's two adult children are estranged from one another and we always have to have two celebrations becasue they refuse to be in the same room with each other. It's hard on everybody ELSE in the family. And my adult children live 400 miles away . . .

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU! The holidaze are over! YAY!

These are wonderful! Love the woman in what seems to me the sky!

They also remind me of paper cut art.
