all I can say is "wow." I am in awe! How do you crank these out. I must try the lino stuff too, one day!

thanks, Mike. I have trouble cranking them out - maybe I give the impression I do but I get the feeling I struggle. I don't do enough continuous art, that's my problem.

I'm hoping to try some linocutting too. If you're interested I found a great site with information and examples. Here's the link,

Relief Print

try the ''printmaking'' link and follow the links to the tutorials.

Fantastic site and motivation to try. I have all the materials at Off Center Art including a press, life just hasn't afforded me the time. I am going to give it a go! Somehow I am going to give it a go.

I love the Fleas Motel! Not a great name for a motel, but I am sure there are a couple here in Reno that could very easily assume that name. Thanks!

That second one blows me away! WOW! You are GOOD with colored pencils and with your very wild imagination as well! SUPER!

The Mr Fleas Linocut is super cool too.

I love the simplicty of it, though complex enough for carving and lining up!!

I wish I could be like you when I grow up.

it's not a linocut yet - just playing with ideas for linocuts. I think I'll start with something much simpler.

Is there some good way to line up multiple images?

I did one as a Christmas card with two colors on two linos, a red flower and green leaves. It was simple enough that getting the line-up perfect was not a problem, but, I don't know how to do a more complex one.

WOW! I had missed that link--I just read that tutorial--SUPER!

I had no idea.

I never went to art school--I was a science major and then got a degree in poetry!

I didn't even know you could DO such a thing, that's how ignorant I am.

That was so interesting, thank you for sharing.

HM!

I would like to try it. WOW!

Amazing

I always thought those prints were made with different blocks, not one.

Ditto Mike! I've got me some linos I need to break out as well Ian. How do you come up with such imaginative ideas. I really am in awe.

Ian russell said...

thanks, steve.

maybe we should have a linocut exchange. ;o)

yes, Mary, me too. I didn't realise you could use multiple colours, the only cuts I'd come across where monochrome.

the only thing that worries me is it looks time consuming and you have to plan the whole thing out - no spontaneity, no going back! I probably need the discipline but can I handle it!!

I really like the delicate components alongside the boldly outlined hand, etc., particularly in the last piece.

I was able to do one linocut this last semester. It was fun though it took some different kind of focus at first. It was interesting to go from small ink pens and fine lined etchings to the chunky lines with the lino cuts. I think you will do well with it. Some people in the class made some incredible pieces. Mine was silly but what fun to make it.
