Portraits of Friends: Online & Off

Mary requested a "self-portrait" as a suggested deposit in her book. If she wants that, fine... but it's only fair that I get to draw her too, HA!

So here we are, 2 friends. We have been friends for 20 years. I was thinking of our upcoming visit when I painted this, "Remember when you blah, blah, ha ha! Remember when I blah, blah, ha ha ha..." I intended to record some of our funny stories on the painted lines between our portraits, but I sure as heck wasn't going to do it before the photo, for all to see... too embarrassing! Sorry folks, nothing to see here ;-)

All done! - Aya Rosen

So I really got into this in the past 3 days and did pretty little but draw in Heidi's book. I'm really happy with the result, though using watercolor in the non watercolor sketchbook was a bit of a challenge, and in some cases I had to change my plans to not make the paint or marker bleed through to the opposite page.

This is my half page, wonder what it will look like after it's done:

First page - Round 2 - Aya Rosen

asio-otus (page 1)

One of my major dilemmas in drawing in Heidi's book (I know I'm going to experience it with each book I get) is how to both do what I want, but also correspond with the other art in the book.
When I start a new sketchbook I usually give it a general name, and mosto f the pieces in the book follow a certain theme, or color pallet or just a change in me, once I start a new one, I'm often drawn to trying something new that I wouldn't dare put in the old one.

So, in Heidi's case this was pretty easy, she had a drawing of a tuffed ears owl in her book AND I notice a comment on one of my owl prints. So I assumed she's a person who likes owls. I decided to add my own version of a tuffed ears owl to her book
