Jim Doran's Mole group

Jim Doran --remember him?--we had a go around about whether he could join us--has started a new mole group and invited me to join. So this is the first page of my new Group 2 mole with my little autobiography blurb. I won't post any more of these, but I just thought you might like to know how it was resolved. Heidi and some of the other people who posted to our blog about wanting to join joined Jim's group. This was done with a fine point sharpie and water color pencils. It didn't scan as well as I would have liked.

A Neighbor With A Moleskin

A neighbor of mine offered to take my outgoing mail to the post office recently and with that mail was Steve's moleskin. Instead of taking them to the post office he just used his own stamps and the ever trustworthy method of weighing by hand. Anywho...the thing was returned yesterday with "insufficient postage." So I am sorry Willie but the moleskin is just leaving Pennsylvania now.

The only good thing about this is that I had neglected to scan in my drawings in Steve's moleskin. So here they are now:

My first piece in Ian's Moleskine

Deep in the Forest, self portrait with leaves, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. In Celebration of digital images, I created this by hand with dots of ink, some from Andrea's pens. It took a long time. Some pens worked better than others. Some wouldn't make a dot unless I moved them a little and then they made a dash. :-( Some pens made tiny dots and some made big dots. But here is is. Including a detail. (It doesn't really look that much like me, and makes me look younger than I am. It's more a self-portrait of my inner self, LOL!)

Mary -> Andrea

So, I sent Mary's mole to Andrea today... (a bit belatedly)...
Here are the last couple of pages I did in it.

The first spread started as a sketch from life from part of the Seattle Arboretum, and then I got all emo one day and turned it into something else with lots of red pencil and a poem I like.

blackwater woods

And then, I found out that I maybe broke my ankle, so I wrote my own poem... (I found out today after an x-ray I didn't really break it... SWEET)

ligament limerick

And well... it's cocktail hour over here and I'm in need another, so ta ta... Um... awesome work, everyone!

(Mary, I have Michelle's mole... thanks for the early mailing! I'll get started posthaste)

Arrival of Ian's Mole

Ian's Mole with Ian's and Milo's work has arrived safely at my house and I am loving looking at all the great, fun, delicate, wonderful work in it. So nice to see the real work, which is always better than the scans or photos. I have begun my first piece in it. It has a lot of dots -- so many that I got a blister! Literally!! On my fingers from making dots!!! Ouch!

(I am not as cute at 62 as an earlier arrival photo, LOL!)

Jess' Polaroid

Everyone gets a Polaroid from me tucked sweetly in the Mole pocket.

High Blood Pressure ~ 6/2/08

One more to go after this in Jess' mole, then I'll mail it off to Steve.

the last in baggelboy's

I have to say right now that I'm grateful to Andrea for the Exchange and Steve for persuading me to join - this is really stretching me artwise and I'm sure it must be doing me good! It's coming up to mailing time and I want to get it off a bit early for Michelle in SF. Here is my last four bits for Baggelboy's moleskine (making 7, yeah!) and looking forward to Johnny's soon. (bye-bye baggelboy molie, I don't expect we'll ever see each other again...)

The Sun, the Monster, the Bird and the stars.

A few pages for my fellow Bromleyite Mr Johnynorms

Practice Mole

I've been wanting to get a practice mole, as the "official " (now circulating) one is the first one I've ever had. I wanted to try things in something other than the moles of other folk, so now I
can--"cause I got a new one to practice in. Of course my first sketches are of BB. I did the ink one first and then the water color--it looks like gouache, but it is water color--water color behaves oddly on this paper! I won't post any more of these, but I am pleased that I can hopefully try out ideas without potentially spoiling someone else's mole.

continuing in Mary's mole...

I just got back from Florida... I'm continuing with the theme of gentler renderings in Mary's mole... she also suggested that anyone who felt compelled could try a self portrait, so I did.

I've been having a really hard time personally lately (difficult trip), and I found that doing a self portrait really alleviated some of the pain. Amazing. I've only done one other in my life... I think I will keep in mind that they seem to be good for my brain.
