Spotted Salamanders & Abstract Comic?

I'm on a spotted salamander binge because of spring. And because I might get a spotted salamander tattoo. And because they are nifty little creatures. The top two images are simple watercolors with white Prismacolor detail. There's another one on the envelope I just sent Aya & here's one I drew in ballpoint on my foot.

The painting at bottom is an attempt at an "abstract comic." I say 'attempt' because I have a question for Anders... or any of you, really. Because of salamander-on-brain right now, I chose salamander colors & "spots" for my abstract comic... but if I have obvious inspiration like this, does it means my art is not abstract? Do I need to be thinking about absolutely nothing when I do an abstract comic? If so, I might be in trouble. I am really bad at thinking about nothing. I'm curious to hear some feedback on this topic.

so here is a salamander tattoo story for you - Ned always wanted one, then one day his sister called Ned's dad and say "I'm at a tattoo place and I want to get a salamander tattoo, but I'm scared, should I go with it?!" Being that Ned's dad is super cool, he said "sure" and she did.

Then Ned couldn't get it cause she already did, and he was pissed, but it's nothing compare to her being pissed for the bad parental advice cause basically, she's got a lizard crawling out of her asshole - ha!

Aya, R U Serious? Out of her ...
Whoa!

Hennie, I don't think you have to be thinking about absolutely nothing. I was definitely thinking of some things when I did mine. Not like I am an expert here, because obviously I have only just attempted it for the first time too. However, I think the abstract part comes in with the shapes/forms or even colors you are using to create your narrative. I think that is what makes it a nice challenge, to create a narrative using abstract shapes and forms. At least that is how I was thinking about it.

Of course, I love the salamanders! I have a thing for htem, having gone to Salamander watches in APril at BLNC when I worked there and having met the salamander man and written a novel about him. A novel that was int he Psion when it was stolen at the Most.

I remember the main story but would have to reconstruct/reimagine the details!!

I love the salamanders and the abstract art piece is cool. But being of a nonabstract mind, I want to see a little salamander hand int here, LOL!

@Andrea & Aya: See? Now this is how rumors get started!

No, I am not (repeat, am NOT) getting a tattoo of any kind on my posterior. I'm way too conservative for that. Seriously!
