Ammon, I'm tickled pink as Mary's nose & cheeks! This character portrait of her is FABULOUS!!! She's been my real-life friend for over 20 years, so I know her face & personality pretty well... and I cannot believe how much of it her person you captured from a simple "photo reference." Your artistic style is a distillery of the soul! Super fun... & amusingly freaky, actually. WOW :-)

Thanks everyone. Whenever I do something like this there is a fear that it will not go over very well. Two Christmases ago somebody that I don't know asked for a "portrait" of herself and her husband. She sent me references of herself that were at least 20 years old. After several sketches her children were still saying that it didn't look like her. It did look like her 20 years ago which they were not referencing, of course. The best part was that the references that she sent of her husband were recent ones.
Devil horns! Maybe I should have added them?!
Andrea- I am sorry to hear about that news. You should burn that old one. I can't find your old photo (we moved and I cannot find a lot of stuff) so if you want to email me new ones I will get to work.
a fabulous caricature, capturing the artist as we love her best, in all her flaming brilliance, good will, devil may care smile, artistic passion and innocence. the mother-goosey bird was a brilliant touch! and as mary said, the line work is extraordinary. someone give this man a medal! i'm hanging on to it to remember one of my favorite living artists, and i don't say that lightly. thank you. ~lt xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
