I got Mike's Mole in the mail--thank you, Milo, and have done my first two pieces. They are called "Rage" and "Contemplation" (Yay Biker Buddy!). Apologies to Ammon for stealing his blood (what a vampire), but I needed it. The first one is art pen, colored pencil, and gouache and the second ballpoint pen.
The darker patches in the rat picture are some of the contemplation picture showing through the paper. :-( I guess I leaned a little too hard on the pen.

YES! The violence continues...
Great stuff. You have a great imagination. I know what you mean about pushing to hard. My regular sketchbooks (I use a Canson, the kind with wire binding and the black cover) and it holds up better under pressure.
the rat has something of Gerald Scarfe about him. it's the violence and blood, I think. Great work, Mary. and I love the portrait!
Awesome! Absolutely awesome...
Yeah I have a couple of those Canson ones, but now I am getting experience with a whole variety of others, LOL! Each with it's own challenges and possibilities. I must say I do like the Cansons better!
THANKS, all!

Thanks!
I had fun with it.
I used to have pet rats that rode around on my shoulders, but I was also attacked once by a wild rat and my brother had to kill it to stop it from attacking me, it was very scary. I was maybe 14 or 15 at the time.
There's a rat in the kitchen what am I gonna do, there's a rat in the kitchen what am I gonna do (UB40), I'm gonna kill that rat, that's what I'm gonna do... Change kill to eat! No that is nasty. Awesome rat! (Mike)

Speaking of rats ... have you all seen the Bansky rats? I am really taken with his rats! check out the Flickr Bansky pool.
Yes, I love the Banksy rats!!
And I love this Mary rat too.
I have a very soft spot in my heart for mice and rats... (I have kept mice as pets)... they are so smart and hilarious. Man. I miss them.
Maybe I will eulogize them in someone's mole... :'-)
I loved my pet rats, too! LOTS!
I've had both good and bad experiences with rats.
I just went and looked at the Banksy rats, which I'd never seen--very cool, thanks.
