I love it. I love even more that it's a step in the pursuit of something. It's such a hard thing to define, and almost as hard to find. Maybe the process is the reason? Or the things you find along the way, like this self portrait.
No kidding about the texture... it really gives the drawing a uniquely raw feeling. The journal-text makes it even more personal (emotional rawness?). Nice piece!
