Just so you don't feel alone, I have no idea what our deadlines are. I just work in the books when I can and hope that I will send them off at a somewhat appropriate time. I think Andrea told me but I keep getting lectures about not reading or listening carefully.

Anyway, this is great stuff.

Definitely! And I'm in the same boat (I say as I fret over the fact that I've only completed the collaboration piece in Mike's book).

phew! good to hear that I am not alone with this. first time doing this, so i wasn't sure how strict the deadlines were.

your work is beautiful! I love what I'm seeing here.

The deadline is the 15th of each months.

Claudia, meant to tell you that sending USPS First Class is a LOT less pricey than Priority or Express and works pretty fast.

Yipee! I'm so glad - your work looks wonderful. I love the lettering in particular, which is great because I'd planned a couple of pages of lettering for this book.

Awesome!

I think the deadlines are a little soft, but some folks are cautious because there were severe backups in the last round where people completely lost track of where their books are, which is why communication is so important. Heidi once said, and I'm inclined to agree, that a delay is no big deal, but when three or four books pile up, one needs to have a serious talk with oneself about commitment. Plus, if there's a serious multi-book backup, then that gets passed on to the next person which isn't quite fair. Trying to stick to the shipping schedule ensures that everyone gets a fair chance to do a decent job on each book and not feel rushed.

Oh, and I'm going to pull a "Mary" here and leave back-to-back comments. ;) (Love you, Mary!)

About shipping: I usually ship Priority because I want the delivery confirmation. Last exchange, Steve's book went missing for a month. Since I hadn't gotten any tracking options on it, we didn't know it was in the Post Office waiting for pickup the whole time. After that, I started using the tracking options, but I might have mentioned there's a sheep herding part of my brain that hates to lose track of things... ;)

Claudia, these are so beautiful! Wow! Now- on to more selfish questions: you got my book, right?

Aya, I WAS thriving on the mystery of the deadline.

Now I have to pretend that I don't know what the date is which won't be too hard.

claudia said...

hahaha, sorry for ruining for that you Ammon.

Good point on the tracking option with Priority. I'll use that from now in that case. Or, you might be able to add one to First Class, but I'm not sure. When I shipped First Class without the tracking, it was $2 or slightly less.
