Eyeballs on a Plate

My Moleskine, page 1

My Moleskine, page 2

I finished my first spread last night. Those are eyeballs on a plate--strange, yes, I know!

I was inspired by my favorite saint, Santa Lucia, who carries her eyeballs on a plate. She is the patron of clarity, vision, lucidity, light, anything to do with eyes or seeing or blindness.

My Moleskine (pages 1/2)

So here's to having clarity about what's important in life, and about my creative passions!

Very cool. That color is like, BAM! And I like the texture in the background of the left-hand page.

Can't wait to see more!

Thanks, ballookey. I got a new set of paint markers the other day--gold, silver, white, black. Paints over anything. That's what I used for the texture. But they stink up the place. :)

Looks like you new folks are all off to a great start! Crumbs, I should've resigned. Now my wait for Round 4 will be painfully long, darnit...

I love the textural background lines behind your self-portrait character! And the eyes on a plate are fun. [singing] "You've got my heart on a string..." Why not my eyes on a plate? ;-)

Henniemavis - Stay in! 13 is a lucky #. How does the song go? He wanted a tattoo, Yeah, he wanted one done, he asked for number 13, they gave him 31... My vote is for you to remain in round three...

HA HA! Oh Mike, you are a total gas with musical references! This one is a doozy. It's got tattoo, it's got bad luck, it's so me right now. Is this song for real, or did you just make that up on the fly? I'm Googling the lyrics... right... now...

I was thinking The Pixies "No. 13 Baby", but that's not the same song about a tattoo of the number thirteen! :)

The song is titled "Pretty Fly for a White Guy."

"The world loves wannabes
Hey, hey, do the trendy thing!
Now he's getting a tattoo yeah, he's getting ink done
He asks for a 13, but they drew a 31
Friends say he's trying too hard and he's not quite hip
But in his own mind he's the, he's the dopest trick
Give it to me baby, uh huh, uh huh
Give it to me baby, uh huh, uh huh
Give it to me baby, uh huh, uh huh
And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a white guy
Uno dos tres cuatro cinco cinco seís"

Thanks for the answer, I watched the link. Hm, that was... "interesting music" for sure... I had to listen to some Doris Day right afterward, to cleanse my palate. HA!

Ballookey, I'm going to listen to your Pixies version of 13 next! Computers make it so easy & fun to sample art... & music too!

WOW! Look what I missed by now being online yesterday!! Very cool! LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors. The expression is priceless, too! I am going to have to read and catch up with all this later, as I am participating in an artists's salon tonight and preparing my work. Yesterday I was in the hospital with ML, my mother-in-law, who got a double mastectomy and they were checking it a week later--I got to see--she's 89 and it's amazing!! Nearly healed already! OOps,sorry. WOW--I'm very excited about the new work you are doing! I love the lines int he background and the lines on the table and the way they coordinate!

13 is a lucky number, I think. :) You guys are all so supportive. What a great community of artists this is. Makes me feel good about participating.
