baggelboy's molie break in
I bought some gouache and then I chickened out! Not in someone else's book, not with my luck! Luckily I also picked up a small tin of ''Polychromos'' colouring pencils and some Faber Pitt ''terra'' brush pens (yet to be used) while I was there. Inspired by Baggelboy's reinterpretations I thought I'd update one of my favourite portraits that I've never seen (one day I shall go to The Hague!) As noted, I was humming The Clash, Rock The Casbah, substituting the chorus with ''Vermeer won't like it....!''

WOW! That is like ULTRA SUPER! That is what I mean by "grand." What I wish I had done, LOL! COOL work! I love this! Mary :-D
Excellent Ian, and v funny the Clash lyric. I will sing that from now on, since I never knew the words anyway!
thanks! I was surprised how it turned out. these are very nice pencils to use - expensive, but I might get some more. they can be bought individually.
as a newbie to moleskines I'd be interested to hear what others think about certain media, whether they have favourites and if they have no-noes!
off-topic: johnny, did you ever have a flickr pro account? how do you get along with the basic free account - I must decide whether I still need it and if so I must actually use it! blogging is my preferred means of public expression but some of my blogger content is downloaded via flickr.
does anyone else have a POV on flickr - pro or free?
i admit i bought a spare mole, and tried out ALL my various pens to see which ones seeped through to the other side - some were fine if you made light strokes, but fouled up if filling area. Ofcourse if I were ingenious I'd work that into the pic on the next page!
re flickr, my free account warned me that i'd run out of visible pic space, and i understood that each new one would knock off the oldest - at least in the public eye, but it would still be there behind the scenes. Haven't bothered to check what's happened yet!
thanks, johnny.
yes, you only get the last 200 images shown and there's a limit on size displayed but all this is within my needs. who goes back further than a few pages worth anyway? 200 medium-sized images is plenty. I was wondering if the tools worked on free account, you know the badge thing and remote slideshows?
also, what's to stop you having multiple free accounts for different catagories?
i've used one of those slideshow badge type things, so that's free.
I have one account connected to my bt email, and another to my hotmail - I imagine there's a restriction having more than 1 flickr account per email, but obviously no limit to email addresses you can create - just a hassle keeping them all alive.
yes, it's a hassle keeping the one I have alive. in fact I haven't done so for several months so it seems pointless paying for it any more.
I was going to buy an extra moleskin to practice and after the last faux-pas, I think I should, LOL!!!
I do have the waster color mole, but that's very different.
My FLICKR account got bumped back to free from PRO and it seems to still work fine.
Nice Ian! Now I've got that tune in my head, which is not a bad thing though.
