Jess' mole on its way...

My moleskine is leaving for Reno tomorrow... woo hoo!

Here's a photo of pages 5-6.  The lighting gives it a wacky shadow gradient, but you get the idea.

For this book, I did one continuous drawing across 7 pages (well, loosely continuous... i didn't try too hard to match up the edges).

If anyone tries walnut ink in their book, beware that it does some weird/interesting things.  The paper almost acts like it has some type of resist on it... which I didn't find to be true when testing walnut ink in the moles with thinner paper.

WOW! This is really beautiful! Can't wait to see the rest but I guess it'll be almost a year before I do, since I'm the person who will mail the finished one back to you, I think, if I have that right.

Jessie, I mailed my mole toward you today. Let me know when it arrives. Mary :-D

Great idea Jess, this could run and run!

Figured that you will only see one contribution (in your book) by the person after you, and everything by the person before you. Is that right, my brain aches from the logistics.

Yes, that's right. That's exactly right, so that's why we prolly should post everything except the first entry--not everyone will see everything.

Very nice--it has an almost aquatic feel to it.

Yeah, it does! And like a river through a treasure map.

Thanks you guys!!

It actually does have an aquatic theme, as you will see... a lot of the little guys floating around there are based on drawings by Ernst Haeckel of crazy sea creatures. But I modified them to add little eyeballs and tentacles and stuff. :)

Mary, I await your shipment!

Love those tentacles and eyeballs! :-D

what a great theme! and I love the texture you've created.

I'll have whatever you're having, Johnny! yes, it's a sliding scale of experience. everyone will only see two completed books: their own and the one they send back to its rightful owner. the one they get after the first month, they'll just see that person's work and their own, the second book, two people's work (and their own) and so on...

Thanks so much for the positive feedback guys! :D

I just wanted to clarify that I don't expect anyone to follow a theme in my book... just do whatever pleases you!
